The Harrington Grist Mill BBQ held on August 11, 2001 was a tremendous success. Over
three hundred and fifty people attended this outdoor event under clear skies around
the picturesque mill pond. The day began with guests signing in at the registration
table while bagpipe music was performed live under the trees. All guests received
a small beaded bracelet displaying the letters HGM (Harrington Grist Mill) and
were given an opportunity to make a financial donation towards the Mill restoration
project. Guests were then directed towards the Mill, walking along the Mill pond
burm and across the Mill pond dam. Once inside the Mill, guests could view all of
the artifacts found to date and many other interesting displays, along with the
fully refurbished milling equipment. One room of the Mill was darkened to allow
the viewing of a short digital slide show to jazz music showing all the
accomplishments around the mill. All members of the Harrington Community
Club along with many friends in the community worked very hard to make this social
fundraising event so successful. Many thanks are extended to all who were involved
and participated in what will surely become an annual event.
