West Oxford United Church is a small country church located on a quiet
side road surrounded by a pioneer cemetery. The cemetery is filled with history
and is often visited by people doing research on the area. The church
was founded in 1804, although records show some community services as early
as 1802. The present building was erected in 1854. In 1967, the church
was presented with an historical plaque for being "Oxford County's oldest
Protestant congregation giving continuous service since its founding by the
Rev. Nathan Bangs, a Methodist pioneer saddle-bag preacher".
